The tactical multiplayer game has been constantly refined throughout the closed beta testing with thanks to the valuable feedback from the community. There’s a comprehensive tutorial to get an easier start in the game, which explains all characters and factions as well as all the important features of the game, not to forget a few hints and tips. The commercial launch is to follow shortly.

Aliens have landed on Earth in the strategy MMOG and want to take our resources. However, they didn’t reckon with the fearless resistance fighters. Even before the Skum attack the three factions were fighting for world domination. Now that the aliens are also making their claim to power all three factions have joined together against these invaders. Operating from self-built outposts, it’s imperative to defeat the aliens using technology and weapons. To do this, players have a team of specialists at their disposal with abilities from five class-specific skill trees.

During the course of the beta testing, the development team once again tightened some screws and carried out final optimizations. Thereby, the PvE content has been expanded, a comprehensive task system has been integrated, research and weapon upgrading have been improved, and new, dynamic missions now challenge players. Furthermore, the base has been completely reconstructed so as to offer a better overview and more interaction opportunities. Varyingly armored character hit zones also increases the tactical game depth in UFO Online.

A mixture of flash technology and a Unity Engine ensures for crisp detail 3D graphics sets the scene well for both the soldiers as well as the Skum. Graphical improvements were also undertaken for effects, for example with the weapons. Performance was once again optimized, especially regarding the flash part of the game. Users can also look forward to an improved interface with expanded functions like drag and drop and keyboard shortcuts.

In the turn-based, tactical battles the people who win are those who find the right mix between tactics and research. In the long run it’s all about achieving world domination with one of the three factions.

New Peak Concurrent User Milestone Hit During 10th Anniversary Celebration

CCP Games, the world’s leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games, today celebrated the 10^th anniversary of the launch of EVE Online®, the groundbreaking, sci-fi online game with over 500,000 subscribers worldwide. Launched on May 6, 2003, EVE Online marked its anniversary in style with an enormous in-game celebration that led to a new peak concurrent user (PCU) record for the game of over 65,000 players connected to the same server.

Unlike in most online games, every one of those players was celebrating in the same connected universe. EVE Online has continuously existed on a single persistent server cluster shared by all its inhabitants for ten years. This unique shared environment means actions have lasting consequences that ripple across the thousands of solar systems of EVE, and players’ reputations are built and destroyed by their own skill, deeds and relationships with other players.

Throughout the last 24 hours, CCP and its players held numerous live events in game and players were given special fireworks launchers munitions for their ships with which they could celebrate the game’s 10^th anniversary.

In addition, players received several other valuable gifts—character implants, avatar clothing and a “Sarum Magnate” frigate.

In honor of today’s anniversary the appreciation continues as CCP delivers a unique and powerful battlecruiser, the Society of Conscious Thought “Gnosis,” to the hangars of all active subscribers.

EVE Online’s 10^th anniversary celebration comes as CCP prepares for several additional major initiatives.

Today also marks the launch of the “Uprising” expansion to DUST 514®, the company’s free-to-play online first-person shooter fully integrated into the universe of EVE Online. The Uprising expansion brings with it numerous improvements and enhancements including a substantial graphics upgrade, an updated user interface, and new gameplay modes, weapons and equipment. Uprising is the biggest update yet for DUST 514 and is currently available to download for free for anyone with a PlayStation®3 and access to the PlayStation Network.

CCP recently announced that DUST 514 will officially launch on May 14, escalating the struggle for interstellar dominance in the EVE Universe as players in both games join forces in shared, player-driven warfare spanning the depths of space and the surfaces of countless planets within it.

On June 4^th, CCP will launch EVE Online’s 19^th free expansion.  EVE Online: Odyssey will take the exploration of space to a whole new level with an entirely revamped scanning mechanic, a fresh and accessible user interface and enticing new rewards for finding and interacting with sites hidden among the stars. All of Odyssey’s exploration changes are designed to make space feel even more alive and they will make it easier and more compelling for pilots to forge their path through the mysterious and dangerous universe.

Throughout the year, CCP has been celebrating the 10^th anniversary of EVE Online with a “Second Decade” theme, focusing on the wealth of stories and successes of the first ten years of EVE and its year-on-year subscriber growth.

City State Entertainment Co-Founder Mark Jacobs and private investors commit an additional $3 million

City State Entertainment announces that its crowdfunding campaign for Camelot Unchained (working title) has reached its target of $2 million. The TriRealm™ RvR-focused MMORPG will now receive $3 million in additional funding, including $2 million from studio co-founder and online game industry pioneer Mark Jacobs. The process of ramping up to full development is already under way. Pledges are still being accepted via Kickstarter until May 2 at 11.56 am EDT, and through PayPal until further notice.

“The last 30 days have been an incredible journey,” said Mark Jacobs. “We believed there’s an audience for a highly focused game like ours, which has now been proven. What we didn’t expect was how our community would come together so quickly and avidly. Not only is our average pledge off the chart, our backers have been just as intensely supportive in other ways, from providing immense amounts of helpful feedback to translating information into four languages (German, French, Japanese and Korean), and more. Our entire team is grateful beyond words for the way they have inspired us with their fervent interest and amazing enthusiasm.”

During the campaign, the company stated its intention to create a proprietary engine that will be optimized for large-scale battles with hundreds of characters on-screen at one time. Led by co-founder Andrew Meggs, the programming team has made tremendous progress in a very short time. A recent technology demo consistently achieved 200 to 400 frames per second while showing 1,000 characters, each individually rendered at approximately 12,000 polygons without using level of detail, plus smoke and other particle effects.

City State also unveiled initial details about the innovative building system that will be a core element in Camelot Unchained. Employing a building block approach, it will offer unprecedented flexibility. Players will be able to craft a variety of both individual cells and larger segments called pre-fabs, which they may then assemble in nearly limitless ways to construct not only small houses, but also halls, manors, castles, walls, towers, other defensive structures, etc.
