NGS Headline Shares Final Details About Creative Space, Chapter 6, Cel Shading, and More Ahead of Launch

SEGA today shared a new NGS Headline, a program to inform players about the present and future of Sega’s free-to-play online action RPG, PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 NEW GENESIS, with info on current operations, future updates, and campaigns. Today’s NGS Headline revealed the final details about PSO2 NEW GENESIS ver. 2 as well as collaborations coming next month.

Creative Space

The Creative Space is a significant evolution from the Personal Quarters of PSO2. In the Creative Space, players can edit an entire island that belongs solely to them. Using building materials called Build Parts, which can be modified in scale and color, players can freely create building interiors and exteriors. The terrain of the island itself can be changed to produce mountains and valleys as well, and players can work together to make huge buildings. The Connect System, which links parts together, can be used to open and close doors, turn on lights, and create a wide variety of activities like mazes and quiz games.

Creations can be saved as Designs, which will allow players to duplicate, reposition, and share them with other players. Players can download and use shared Designs to place them in their own space. However, to reproduce the contents of a Design, players must have the Build Parts utilized in that Design. There is no cost for downloading Designs, and the owners of downloaded Designs will not receive any type of reward.

Genesis Points

Build parts can be purchased using Genesis Points (GP), which is a new type of point system being introduced in NGS ver. 2. GP can be obtained from the GP Tree located in the Creative Space and acquired from Weekly Tasks and Limited-time Tasks provided by Arche, the ARKS Architectural Researcher. Arche will also teach the basic controls for the Creative Space so players can earn GP while completing tasks.

Among the Build Parts that players can get with GP are several objects with interesting functions, such as the ARKS Decoy, which allows you to place a clone of your character, and the IntraSpace Teleporter, which allows you to jump between two locations. Some of the furnishings from PSO2 will be made into Build Parts and added as new items! In addition to Build Parts, GP can be exchanged for Augment Capsules, Aegis Integra, Ajax Armor, and other items that are useful in battle. Be sure to check it out when ver. 2 arrives!

AC Shop

The Resort Build Parts Pack will also be available at the in-game AC Shop. This pack comes with five different types of Build Parts that can be used in the Creative Space, including a pool and hanging chairs that can be used to create a luxurious resort-like atmosphere.

In addition, a collaboration pack with costumes of Sega’s popular Sonic characters and themed Build Parts for the Creative Space will be available at various stores and at the in-game AC Shop. This pack includes a 15-day Premium Set ticket and other consumable items!

Chapter 6

Also announced today, is an upcoming look at Chapter 6, Part 1 of the Main Story. Zephetto has revealed a number of truths to us on Leciel, which up until now had been referred to as the “floating island.” A new threat has emerged as well. In response, Crawford begins discussing countermeasures with leaders from each region. The protagonist and Aina will be given new missions to prepare for the next battle. Along with the release of Chapter 6, adjustments have been made that make it easier for players to progress through the Main Story by eliminating damage attenuation and Battle Power requirements for Story Quests as well as lowering the level of enemies. Portable Holograms

Portable Holograms are making their debut as a new feature for communication. Players can put Holograms throughout each ARKS base and in the open field. Multiple Holograms can be placed simultaneously, but please be aware that this is limited by cost restrictions. Holograms disappear automatically when the character moves a set distance from where the Hologram was placed, and they are reset when logging out or transferring to another Block.

Three types of Holograms can be placed: Objects, Effects, and Paint. Among these, Paint can be applied to floors and walls. In addition to the basic Holograms that are in place at the start, as with Emotes, there will also be new variations included in AC Scratch Ticket prizes, for example. Let’s spruce up Planet Halpha with some Portable Holograms!

Cel Shading

Cel Shading for characters is now available in Options and at the Salon. This also applies to characters who appear in the story. Detailed adjustments like Outline Emphasis, Shadow Density, and more enable players to personalize the setting. This setting is only available in NGS and does not apply to PSO2 Blocks.

AION Classic EU Roadmap Revealed

Following the launch of AION Classic’s EU server, the free-to-play MMORPG has gone from strength to strength with hundreds of thousands of created characters, along with millions of completed quests! To celebrate, publisher Gameforge is revealing the AION Classic EU roadmap, letting fans know what to expect in the coming months. Beginning with the AION Classic EU 2.0 update coming this summer (estimated arrival end of July), players will be able to grow their power and become ever stronger when the level cap is increased to level 55. Additionally, new regions Inggison and Gelkmaros will provide fresh fantasy locations to explore, along with eight new PvP and PvE instances to enjoy. Dust off those VHS players! Renowned indie horror publisher DreadXP announced an April 25, 2023, launch date for cartoon edutainment-themed horror game, Amanda the Adventurer, for PC!

Developed by MANGLEDmaw Games, Amanda the Adventurer is a found footage style horror title that’s a throwback to the television edutainment era. In the game, players embody Riley Park who inherits their Aunt Kate’s house following her death. The adventure starts with the seemingly banal task of digging through the reclusive aunt’s attic, where Riley comes across a box full of VHS tapes. Watching through them, they discover that the tapes contain episodes of a long-lost children’s show starring the plucky Amanda the Adventurer and her cowardly yet loyal sidekick, Woolie the Sheep.

At first glance, the videos seem innocently childish and wholesome, depicting two best buddies as they explore and learn all about their wonderful world. SEGA today announced their popular free-to-play online action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 (Global), has launched on the Epic Games Store.

“We are so happy to be releasing Phantasy Star Online 2 Global on the Epic Games Store,” said Fred White from PSO2 Team Global. “With all the huge updates to the game over the past year, including the newest Chapter 6 update, there’s more content than ever to explore and play through. Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, today announced the details behind the storyline of their upcoming title with Lucid Dreams Studio, Legends of Ethernal. Legends of Ethernal will be launching on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC/MacOS this fall.

It was a lazy summer day like any other for Wilfred… However, after returning home, he finds his house ransacked, and his parents gone… Who or what has taken them? And to where? Wilfred puts his fears aside and sets off on an adventure to find them, an adventure that will span the entire world of Arkanys.

Arkanys is a land of many creatures: the majestic Jarkens, birthed from the sap of Mehdhun Tree, often live as long as a millennium. The Brüwigs: An amphibious folk who are skilled swimmers with strong lungs. Their sturdy lungs are likely a reason for their favored weapons: blowguns, with which they can use to fire darts over long distances. The haunting Dakrei: An omnivorous, venomous insect-like race with a huge queen as their leader. Wilfred will come face to face with these creatures — and more — in the world of Legends of Ethernal. But who is friend? And who is foe? All shall be revealed in time…

In Legends of Ethernal, it is up to you to uncover the truth about your parents’ disappearance. Explore beautiful hand-crafted environments, solve challenging puzzles, and battle frightening creatures. Using the crafting power of ether, new powers and weapons will be unlocked to you, allowing you to explore more and more of the world of Arkanys!

Next week, BIG Digital — the fully online version of Latin America’s largest video games industry event, Brazil’s Independent Games (BIG) Festival — will present an incredible line up of free seminars — both in English and Portuguese — by some of the world’s most exciting voices in the international games industry.

On June 25, Marcos Silva, co-founder and partner of Sue the Real — an independent game development studio focusing on Afro-Bazilian narratives — seeks to challenge the status quo of the video game industry by highlighting Afro-Brazilian studios and telling their stories during the panel “Welcoming Diverse Perspectives to Broaden Gaming Experiences”.

In this panel, the team will discuss the dominance of the white male perspective in video game storytelling and design, and the importance of elevating new, lesser-known voices from marginalized communities in an effort to bring about positive change and new experiences to the medium.
