FOOTBALL MANAGER 2021 – BETA AVAILABLE NOW The wait is finally over – the Football Manager 2021 Beta is now live on the Epic Games Store and Steam, giving managers the chance to kick their career off early. Anyone who has pre-purchased FM21 from a SEGA-approved digital retailer* can log-in to Epic Games or Steam and launch the game directly from their library, right now. Fans who haven’t pre-purchased can rest assured that it’s not too late to get involved as anyone who pre-purchases FM21 on PC and Mac from a participating digital retailer between now and the game’s full release on November 24th will get access to the Beta and 10% off.

The pre-release Beta is a near complete (but not quite final) version of the game, so players may encounter some bugs and issues during play. These can be reported directly to the Sports Interactive team via the ‘Report Bug’ button on the in-game sidebar. Online play is also enabled, but there will be no access to the Steam Workshop or either the pre-game or in-game editors until the game’s full release on November 24th. FM21 introduces a raft of new features and notable improvements across a wide variety of areas of the game. Managers will enjoy more control than ever over their team’s success on and off the pitch with new gameplay systems, an increased level of analysis and information and additional resources at their disposal.

Interactions with players and the media have been overhauled to create a more true-to-life experience and matchdays look and feel more spectacular with a host of graphical and presentation improvements as well as new pre-and post-match events. Additionally, managers will have more power over player recruitment and new ways to celebrate success at the end of the season. “The game’s first major content update, Episode 4, is coming this summer and we’re super excited to continue growing along with our player community,” said Fred White, PSO2 TEAM North America’s Head of Marketing. “Episode 4 takes place several years after the end of Episodes 1-3, which are included in the base game of Phantasy Star Online 2. This is the first of more content updates to come in the future.”

Players wake from a long sleep to find that there has been an internal invasion of fake ARKS members, a mysterious enemy called “The Phantom” appears, and a new planet has been discovered in another dimension – Earth. And that’s just the beginning of the adventures. ARKS will be able to unlock a new level cap and travel to new locations like Tokyo and Las Vegas in the pursuit of solving the mystery of the mysterious black shadow and purge the planet of the most powerful enemies encountered yet, including the mysterious organization called Mother Cluster. The popular free-to-play game is currently available on Xbox One and PC from Microsoft, and will be launching on more PC platforms soon.

Phantasy Star Online 2 players are invited to join together online to explore numerous worlds with friends and experience PSO2’s unparalleled action combat and character customization. The North American version of Phantasy Star Online 2 includes fully localized text and character voices in English, spanning three years of content. Announced earlier today as part of the Future of Gaming digital event, I’m incredibly excited to tell you that Resident Evil Village is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2021, setting a new standard for survival horror as the eighth main entry in the storied Resident Evil franchise.

Fear is one of our greatest motivations. The traditional themes of fight or flight (and, occasionally, to freeze) when faced with danger are natural to people even as we press on into the unknown, and most of us aren’t a stranger to the looming sense of anxiety that rises from a disturbing sound or a gloomy corner.

Both the great unknown, as well as our need to explore – and be fearful of or fight for survival against what we find – is innately human. It’s what drove our ancestors to create the myths and legends we hear about to this day… perhaps because what’s really out there is significantly more terrifying and deadly than any fable.

To that end, the team behind Resident Evil Village is using its expertise with Capcom’s in-house RE Engine to bring a truly next-generation survival-horror experience to PS5. You may have caught a few bits and pieces of how the engine is being used in the enigmatic trailer that was shown during The Future of Gaming, providing ultra-realistic environments and characters that inhabit a strange, snow-capped village. We’ll let you all pick apart the trailer and speculate on the finer details of what it all means, particularly the return of a Resident Evil mainstay, but rest assured you’ll be getting a next-gen experience that only Capcom can create.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, go give it a watch – it’s time to dive into some of what you’ve seen in the trailer itself. If you don’t want to be spoiled, skip the next paragraph – we’ll get into some gameplay details afterwards.

Taking place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, in which protagonist Ethan Winters traveled to Louisiana to search for his missing wife, Mia, Resident Evil Village sees the reunited Mia and Ethan living happily together and putting their shared nightmares of the Baker’s plantation house behind them.

Finally able to move on from those horrifying events, Ethan’s world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield, an unexpected yet familiar face makes an appearance, setting off a chain of events that sees a distraught Ethan seeking answers to Chris’s shocking actions… and ultimately finding him in a mysterious village.

Unlike the cramped corridors of the Baker mansion in Resident Evil 7, the fear of dark corners has been replaced with the anxiety of the unknown as Ethan searches for answers within decrepit buildings among snow-covered trees.

The return of a first-person perspective will bring a visceral edge to combat, as well. Each encounter is a personal fight for survival against terrifying foes, forcing you to keep a watchful eye on the environment and constantly looking for resources and enemies in unknown territory. With a greater focus on combat and exploration compared to Resident Evil 7, the village itself is just as important a character as any other, a location with a life of its own that will frequently keep you on edge as you discover its secrets.

Funcom Reveals New Rhythm FPS Metal: Hellsinger

Next year will have you shoot demons and devils to the beat of headbanging metal music, as developer The Outsiders and publisher Funcom are proud to announce the upcoming rhythm FPS Metal: Hellsinger.

Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm FPS, where your ability to shoot on beat will increase your power and intensify the music. Featuring an original soundtrack with vocals from metal icons such as Matt Heafy (Trivium) and Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Metal: Hellsinger innovates both the rhythm and FPS genre with layered music. Each level will have its own song, and every song will be divided into multiple layers. Your performance will impact how many layers of the song will be played at a time, starting with atmospheric background music, and ending with powerful metal anthems.

“This gives the player an incentive to stay on beat, because the experience becomes so intense and so powerful that you want to keep it that way,” explains Funcom Chief Creative Officer Joel Bylos. “I knew that Dave and The Outsiders know how to make shooters, but I have never seen anything done quite like this before. It’s a very ambitious project and one we are proud to be a part of,” he says.

The Outsiders’ Creative Director David Goldfarb has previously been Lead Designer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, as well as Game Director on Payday 2. He says he has never had more fun creating a game, than he has with Metal: Hellsinger.

“We want to make this the most metal game ever,” says David Goldfarb. “Or get as far as we possibly could, anyway! To make something that felt like a tribute to the epic imagination and joy and fury of metal – not just in terms of music, but art style, characters, lore. Trying to do it has been an amazing joy and we can’t wait to get it into the world for people to play,” he says.

Metal: Hellsinger is due to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2021. The game will be optimized for next-gen consoles, with improved visuals, up to 120 frames per second, and drastically reduced loading time.

A World Apart Introduces Scenarios and More in Latest Update

The apocalypse is looking a little brighter, as Assemble Entertainment has announced an extensive new update to the highly successful post-apocalyptic city-builder Endzone – A World Apart. As part of the update, players will face new challenges in the irradiated wastelands, as they strive to build a thriving home for their followers.

The update brings new Scenarios, which introduce modified win conditions that challenge players to experience the game with various objectives that can significantly increase the difficulty of a particular play style. If you thought the unforgiving environments were tough before, it’s only just beginning.

Additionally, players can now choose between a “pre-built” playing experience with the option to start in Easy Mode, Builder Mode, or Hard Mode, or fine-tune the most minute gameplay details, such as increased instances of diseases, the population’s food consumption, and radiation levels. This apocalypse is about to get personal!
