Phantasy Star Online 2 Global Launches on the Epic Games Store

SEGA today announced their popular free-to-play online action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 (Global), has launched on the Epic Games Store.

“We are so happy to be releasing Phantasy Star Online 2 Global on the Epic Games Store,” said Fred White from PSO2 Team Global. “With all the huge updates to the game over the past year, including the newest Chapter 6 update, there’s more content than ever to explore and play through. We can’t wait to welcome in all the new players to the PSO2 universe!”

ARKS (soldiers of the Oracle colony fleet in the Phantasy Star Online 2 series) are invited to join together online to explore numerous worlds with friends and experience PSO2’s unparalleled action combat and character customization. Choosing from four unique races and thirteen classes, players can join forces with up to eleven other operatives at a time to experience unforgettable battles and boss fights.

The Global version of Phantasy Star Online 2 includes fully localized text and character voices in English, spanning three years of content, including events, campaigns, quests, and raid bosses. In addition to the immersive original PSO2 story, the Global version also features the most-up-to-date balancing and quality-of-life improvements from the Japanese service. Players can choose from four races and thirteen classes while tackling various missions. They can also take a break from questing by playing one of the many Casino mini-games, chilling in the Alliance Quarters, competing in the new ARKS League or attending all-new live stage events. Players will be able to do all of this with friends on both PC (Epic Games Store / Windows 10 / Steam) and Xbox One thanks to cross-platform play.

FOOTBALL MANAGER 2021 – BETA AVAILABLE NOW The wait is finally over – the Football Manager 2021 Beta is now live on the Epic Games Store and Steam, giving managers the chance to kick their career off early. Anyone who has pre-purchased FM21 from a SEGA-approved digital retailer* can log-in to Epic Games or Steam and launch the game directly from their library, right now. Fans who haven’t pre-purchased can rest assured that it’s not too late to get involved as anyone who pre-purchases FM21 on PC and Mac from a participating digital retailer between now and the game’s full release on November 24th will get access to the Beta and 10% off.

The pre-release Beta is a near complete (but not quite final) version of the game, so players may encounter some bugs and issues during play. These can be reported directly to the Sports Interactive team via the ‘Report Bug’ button on the in-game sidebar. Online play is also enabled, but there will be no access to the Steam Workshop or either the pre-game or in-game editors until the game’s full release on November 24th. FM21 introduces a raft of new features and notable improvements across a wide variety of areas of the game. Managers will enjoy more control than ever over their team’s success on and off the pitch with new gameplay systems, an increased level of analysis and information and additional resources at their disposal.

Interactions with players and the media have been overhauled to create a more true-to-life experience and matchdays look and feel more spectacular with a host of graphical and presentation improvements as well as new pre-and post-match events. Additionally, managers will have more power over player recruitment and new ways to celebrate success at the end of the season. FOOTBALL MANAGER DEBUTS ON EPIC GAMES STORE

We’re delighted to announce that Football Manager 2020 is available right now on the Epic Games Store.

To celebrate this news, we’ve partnered with Epic to make Football Manager 2020 – the best-selling title in the series’ illustrious history – available to download and keep for FREE for all fans, even if they already own the game on another platform. The free to own period on the Epic Games Store is available until 4:00 PM GMT on September 24, 2020.

FM20 on the Epic Games Store, as well as future editions of Football Manager includes cross network play with Steam allowing players to go head-to-head with their mates no matter which of the two platforms they’re playing on, utilising the Epic Online Services platform to make this a possibility.

32 of Brazil Games’ Best Indie Studios are Bringing the Heat to Devcom Digital 2020

Today, Brazil Games is thrilled to announce that 32 Brazilian game studios, including Hermit Crab Game Studio and Rockgames, will be part of a delegation attending Devcom Digital 2020. Taking place from August 17 to 30, 2020, these incredibly talented Brazilian studios will present their latest creations, innovations, and upcoming games, as well as engage in business development, form partnerships, and come together to do what they do best — bring quality video games to the market.

In partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the group is led by Brazil Games (the Brazilian Games Export Program) — carried out by the Brazilian Games Companies Association and Abragames.

“As one of the fastest-growing game development scenes on the planet, we’re excited to show some of the amazing work from our growing stable of Indie Developers,” said Eliana Russi, Manager of Brazil Games. “Whether it’s simply getting the games into the hands of players or creating future partnerships, our studios can’t wait to hit the digital-floor at Devcom 2020.”

“Brazil has a substantial amount of incredibly talented Indie studios, and Devcom Digital is the perfect environment to get their names and faces out there in the industry,” continued Russi. “We truly believe in homegrown talent and want to show the world what we’ve all known for years — Brazil is a hotbed of extremely accomplished and gifted game creators.”

In addition, this year three Brazilian studios —out of 60 total — were selected to participate in the prestigious DevCom NRW GREEN Virtual Indie Expo 2020: Duaik, Fira Soft, and INSANE.

Duaik is an independent game developer located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, founded in 2014 after joining Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program and receiving the title of “Inaugural Brazilian Developer” on Xbox One in 2015 from Xbox’s Phil Spencer himself. Duaik’s first title, Aritana and the Harpy’s Feather, won multiple awards including Best Game at SBGames 2014, People’s Choice at BIG 2014, Brazilian Game of the Year at TGA 2014, and many more. During Decom Digital 2020, the team will exhibit its sequel, Aritana and the Twin Mask.

Fira Soft is a studio that focuses on working with brands to create “advergames” and educational titles that connect clients and brands with a whole new demographic and player base. Founded in 2011, Fira Soft’s upcoming title Kriophobia promises a return to survival horror and follows a geologist named Anna who finds herself trapped on the sinister Zhokhov Island.

INSANE was a studio founded with one goal in mind: to bring the visually distinct, truly open-world sandbox MMORPG Profane to players everywhere. With a team of 25 industry professionals, INSANE is always looking for consultants, collaborators, and new tips and technologies.

Several studios will have featured booths this year, with Duaik, INSANE, and Fira Soft exhibiting their work in the DevCom NRW GREEN Virtual Indie Expo 2020 booth, with Rockgames, Ludact, and Kokku hosting booths of their own. Brazil Games will also have a digital booth in the Country Pavillion, and registered attendees can book meetings with the Executive Team through the Devcom Meet-to-Match tool.

In addition, several studios involved in external development, who bring their skills and expertise to outside clients in order to help them reach their goals and launch their games in a polished and complete package, will join the Devcom 2020 delegation. These studios can handle just about any aspect of game development, from creating 2D and 3D art and animation to engineering, porting and everything in between:

Founded in 2014, Garage 227 Studios is an innovative Brazilian studio that now boasts a host of talented artists, programmers, and developers and has also recently expanded into the United States.

Kokku is nearing a full decade in the games industry as the studio for external development, with a hefty resume that includes work on lauded AAA titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Sniper Ghost Warrior among other VR and mobile games and is staffed by industry veterans with pedigrees from major studios such as Microsoft, CAPCOM, Tencent, SEGA and THQ.

Diorama Digital is the go-to studio for external development of 2D and 3D concept art, and since 2014 has worked on numerous large-scale titles like Just Cause 4, Overwatch, and Borderlands 3.

PUGA Studios is a top outsourcing company for 2D and stylized 3D art, with clients in 13 countries and a resume that includes work with game studios like Gearbox, Jam City, and Kwalee.

Manifesto Games, with almost 15 years in the industry, handles both development and operations for web and mobile titles, co-producing and developing games for Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Disney, Sea World, and Zynga.

HUMANKIND OPENDEV SCENARIO 1 “TOWERS OF BABYLON” NOW AVAILABLE

Standing at the center of civilization, Babylon is, was, and always will be one of the greatest cities the world has ever seen. It’s your turn to write a chapter in its glorious history. How will you be remembered?

Ourselves, we hope to be remembered for our wonderful strategy games, always crafted with the community’s input. Today we start that process for Humankind by giving access to a first 45-minute OpenDev scenario focused on exploration. Two more scenarios will follow in the coming month.

A few key things to remember:

Scenarios are time limited – each will be available from Thursday at 07:00 PDT/ 16:00 CEST/ 15:00 BST through Monday at the same time
We will grant access to additional applicants with each new scenario – so players should keep checking their email in the coming weeks
Getting access later grants access to all previous scenarios – In fact, we would prefer that newcomers play the scenarios in order as they have a bit of an onboarding logic to them
Applications will remain open during the entire process – Even if you weren’t selected for this first round, you can apply now for a chance to be included in the 2^nd or 3^rd wave of players

Last but certainly not least, a reminder about why we’re doing OpenDev: to get your feedback. The game is still in an early state, and these scenarios are targeted to test out small slices and specific features.

Community input is extremely important to us and we want to work together to make Humankind an amazing game!

How would you tackle creating the music for a game that features 60 different cultures? With elegance and attention to authenticity, if you are Arnaud Roy, composer of all the music for Amplitude’s games thus far. We are excited and proud to welcome him back for the soundtrack of Humankind. In our latest feature focus video, he takes us through the work and thinking that went into the creation of the Humankind soundtrack. It features over 8 hours of music, 90 minutes of live orchestra and choir, as well as 10 soloists and experts in traditional music playing instruments like the Chinese Guzheng harp, a Mesoamerican flute, a Baroque string trio, a variety of Medieval wind instruments, just to name a few. There’s even a cithara from antiquity recreated by a Grecian harpist based on visuals from ancient fragments of pottery! We could go on, but we would rather you go and have a listen. SEGA’s Popular Free-to-Play MMORPG Officially Launches in North America

Also Announced: PC Version Releasing Late May

SEGA announced today the official launch of Phantasy Star Online 2 on Xbox One in North America. Players can download the free-to-play game now on the Microsoft Store. SEGA also announced today that PSO2 will make its North American debut on PC in late May, exclusively in the Microsoft store. Cross-play between Xbox One and PC will begin at that time. Other announcements accompanied the official release as well.

ARKS (soldiers of the Oracle colony fleet in the Phantasy Star Online 2 series) are invited to join together online to explore numerous worlds with friends and experience PSO2’s unparalleled action combat and character customization. Choosing from four unique races and nine classes, players can join forces with up to eleven other operatives at a time to experience unforgettable battles and boss fights.

“Phantasy Star Online 2 changed the history of Online Action RPG’s; the sci-fi story, characters, and gameplay has resonated with gamers worldwide and now we’re excited to bring North American players this special game — for free,” said Fred White, PSO2 TEAM North America’s Head of Marketing. “Our player community is the heart and soul of the game and we couldn’t have done it without their ongoing support and passion. Now that it is officially launched on Xbox One, we look forward to kicking off a fun-filled future of events, collaborations and expansions in the years to come!”

The North American launch includes fully localized text and character voices in English, spanning three years of content. In addition to the immersive original PSO2 story, the NA version also features the most-up-to-date balancing and quality-of-life improvements from the Japanese service. Players will be able to choose from four races and nine classes while tackling various missions and collecting Xbox One Achievements. They can also take a break from questing by playing one of the many Casino mini-games, chilling in the Alliance Quarters, or attending all-new live stage events. All progress from the betas will be carried over.

To celebrate the full launch of PSO2, SEGA has a number of surprises lined up for players in North America:

Every day between April 15^th-23^rd, ARKS Operatives will receive a special log-in bonus when they report for duty! The Half Scape Doll is able to sacrifice itself to revive players automatically if they become incapacitated on the battlefield – a real boost when fighting the Falspawn.
ARKS who join an Alliance with at least four members before April 28^th will receive a SG20 Ticket (x1). And members of Alliances that have earned at least 5,000 Alliance Points before April 28^th will receive the collectable emote #269: Impromptu Tea Party!
Two new Urgent Quests: “The Cunning Black Winged Vanguard” & “The False Champion: Luther the Fallen” begin this week.
PSO2 Diva, Quna, returns for live concerts on Saturdays and Sundays!
The Cherry Blossom season is coming to Phantasy Star Online 2 with a new look to the renowned Franca’s Café! Certain ARKS Ship lobbies will also change their appearances periodically.
PSO2 is one of the first games to be included in Microsoft’s new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks program! All PSO2 players with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription will receive extra special goodies after their first log in, including an Xbox jacket and Xbox Controller accessory for their character to show off in-game. Additional Perks will be made available every month, such as bonus Half Scape Dolls and more.
The ever-expanding catalog of outfits and accessories to collect and mix-and-match continues to grow with the introduction of the Heroic Wanderer AC Scratch Ticket.
